- Huge kudos to Katie Turcotte for her amazing results at Lake Placid Figure Skating Championships! Competing against strong Junior skaters from the US and Canada, Katie won the free style event ! Congratulations also to our new club member John Michael Harden for winning silver and bronze in the SP and FS Novice Men events!

January-April 2023

- Rachel Cotrone  finished in 7-th place at the 2023 U.S. Adult Figure Skating Championships Masters Int.-Nov. Women FS. Congratulations on this big achievement !also find
- Congratulations to our collegiate skater Elizabeth Song who medaled at the National Intercollegiate Finals in Anaheim, CA. Representing Cornell University, she won a silver medal at Excel  Intermediate Women  FS competition and contributed 11 points to the overall 8-th place of her University team!​

July-December 2022
​-  Isobel Carney finished in 18-th place at the 2023 Eastern Sectional Figure Skating Championships in Norwood, MA. Congratulations, Isobel!
- Congratulations to our collegiate skaters Natalia Gallagher and Elizabeth Song who medaled at the Collegiate competition in New York University!

​- Congratulations to Katie Turcotte who was invited to compete  in the Junior Challenge Skate in Lake Placid and finished in 10-th place!
- Former FEFSC member Sonja Hilmer won her first international medal representing the USA. She finished in second place at the 2022 Cranberry Cup International, Senior Ladies. Congratulations, Sonja! We are proud of you!
- Congratulations to Sophia Stephan for passing her Senior Moves in the Field Test and becoming a USFS Gold medalist!

​- Congratulations to Clare Link. She placed 4-th, Excel Pre-Juvenile Girls FS, at the National Excel Festival  in Boston, July 15-17, 2022! Congratulations to her coach Sarah Carney, too! 
- Finer Edge FSC hosted the figure skating competition at 2022 Nutmeg State Games on July 9-th! The event was a big success thanks to the organizers, volunteers, coaches, skaters, judges and officials!  Congratulations to all participants and big thank you to all who helped with this event! January-June 2022
​- Congratulations to our skaters at Lake Placid Championships! Special kudos to Michaela and Clare for their gold medals, and  Jenny (pewter)!

- Congratulations to all FEFSC skaters who did a great job at North Shore Open, May 20-22 ! Special kudos to the medal winners Katie, Rachel, Connor, Isabel, Carol and Jenny! 
​- Congratulations to Talia Gallagher  who skated a beautiful solo free ice dance program at the  collegiate competition Violet Ice Classic, hosted by New York University, and won a well deserved gold medal! 
- Congratulations to Katie Turcotte and Elizabeth Song for receiving the US Figure Skating  2022 Graduating Seniors Award, Gold Level. We are proud of you, girls!
- Congratulations to Mason Borden who skated great at the 2022 National Intercollegiate Final. Her results are posted on the Competitions page. 
- Finer Edge FSC hosted a TEST SESSION on Sunday, March 20-th from 5:20 pm to 7:20 pm at the Veterans Memorial Ice Rink located at 56 Buena Vista Rd., West Hartford, CT. Congratulations to all skaters who passed their tests! Results can be found under TESTS!
- Congratulations to Rachel Cotrone on her debut at the 2022 Eastern Adult Sectional Figure Skating Championships in Havertown, PA  in March.
​- Congratulations to Talia Gallagher  who skated a beautiful solo free ice dance program at her first collegiate competition this year, hosted by Boston University, and won a well deserved gold medal! Talia skated for UCONN skating team.
- Congratulations to Mason Borden for placing 2-nd in Novice Excel free skate, 2-nd in Novice short and 1-st in the Medium team event at the Liberty Flames Classic Collegiate event, February 12-13, in Virginia!
- Congratulations to Isabel Carney, who won silver medal and to Emma Blanchette who finished in sixth place  at the Empire State Games in Lake Placid, NY, February 3-rd to February 6-th! Good job, girls!
- Finer Edge FSC is now offering a late Winter LTS program, starting Friday, March 11-th and finishing  May 6-th, 2022 - every Friday, except Easter weekend. Newington Arena opened up the registration portal for this  LTS. September-December 2021​
- Congratulations to Carol Sugrue - the recipient of the 2021 NEICC Aldo Costantino Academic Scholarship!
- Congratulations to Lauren Jeong for earning an invitation and recently attending the USFS National Development Camp!
- FEFSC skaters did a great job at the USFS Championship Series, Norwood, MA from November 9 to November 13, 2021!  It was the culmination of a difficult, but very successful season for all our members! Congratulations to all! Special kudos to the medal winners at this competition: Lauren - gold medal and Katie - silver! Please go to Qualifying tab to see the detailed results.  
- Congratulations to Lauren Jeong who won the Short and the Free Style programs, as well as the overall gold medal in her group B, Novice Ladies at the 2022 USFS Championship Series in Leesburg, Virginia from October 27 to October 30! Congratulations also to Katie Turcotte who won the overall bronze medal in her Junior Group A event at the same competition!
- Congratulations to our little skaters for their great skating at the Autumn Harvest Open in Bolton!
- Congratulations to all FEFSC skaters for the excellent job they did at Boston Open September 30 - October 2! Special kudos to Katie Turcotte who won two gold medals, Lauren Jeong - gold and silver, Rachel Cotrone - gold; as well as to the other medalists Megan Keeney, Emily Selander and Michaela Colwell!
- Congratulations to Lauren Jeong who was invited by USFS to participate at the 2021 U.S. Figure Skating Novice & Junior Challenge Skate. She performed  two great programs and finished in 4-th place overall, very close to the podium. Kudos!
- Congratulations to Katie Turcotte who won the gold medal and the Lucy Curley Joyce Brennan Junior Ladies' Award at the 96-th Middle Atlantic Figure Skating Championships in NYC! Congratulations to  Isabel Carney and Carol Sugrue  for their great skating at NYC, too!

June-August  2021
- Good luck to FEFSC skaters who will be competing between September 9 and September 19 at three different competitions - Middle Atlantics Figure Skating Championships in NYC, NY (Isabel Carney, Carol Sugrue, Katie Turcotte, Jenny Sugrue), Providence Open  in Providence, RI (Emily Selander) and the 2021 U.S. Figure Skating Novice & Junior Challenge Skate in Boston, MA (Lauren Jeong) !
- Our skaters skated great at the Cranberry Open competition in Boston. Congratulations to all of them. Special kudos to the medal winners: Lauren Jeong (2 golds), Katie Turcotte (gold and silver), Rachel Cotrone (gold),  Tanya Bilous (silver),  Michaela Colwell (bronze), Carol Sugrue (pewter) , Sophia Stephan (pewter), Clare Link (pewter) and Alisa Martsinkevich (pewter).
- Finer Edge FSC hosted a TEST SESSION on Sunday, August 8-th, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Newington Arena.  It was a big success! Congratulations to all skaters who passed their tests. Results can be found under Tests.

- Colonial Open 2021 was held this year from June 3 to June 6.  Congratulations to all our participants who did their best in this first competition of the season! Special kudos to the medal winners: Mason Borden, Katie Turcotte, Rachel Cotrone, Sophie Fernandez, Lauren Jeong, Cecelia Peary, and Megan Keeney!

​January-March 2021

January-October 2020
- Congratulations to Julia Ciesla, Victoria Ciesla, Michaela Colwell, Lauren Jeong, Jennifer Sugrue, Mia Vientos, Mason Borden, Carol Sugrue and Katie Turcotte, who skated great at the 2020 Boston Open competition!  Huge kudos to the medal winners - Katie Turkotte who finished with a gold and silver medal,  Julia Ciesla who won a gold medal, Lauren Jeong who won two  silver medals, and Victoria Ciesla for her pewter medal! 
- Our club is offering a Bridge program starting on October 2. 2020. Please visit the Newington Arena website for schedule and  registration.  Please, visit the 'Bridge Program' page for more details on this program.
- The test session on September 20, 2020 organized by  FEFSC at West Hartford was a big success. All our skaters passed their tests! Congratulations to all ! Special kudos to Carol Sugrue who passed her Senior Moves in the Field test! Special kudos also to Victoria Ciesla who passed two tests with Distinction and one with Honors, as well as to Mason Borden and Julia Ciesla who passed their test with Honors.
- Finer Edge organized a test session on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at 3:15 p.m. at  Veterans Memorial Ice Rink at 56, Buena Vista Road, West Hartford.  The session was a big success  - all FEFSC skaters passed!
​- Big kudos to Emmy Blanchette  who won a gold medal at Intermediate level, at the Empire State WInter Games in Lake Placid, NY,  January 31 to February 2, 2020!
- Congratulations to Talia Gallagher who finished the Collegiate season  with a bronze medal at the MIT Collegiate competition in Boston on  February, 2-nd! We are proud of Talia who is a hard working student at UCONN and a beautiful skater, at the same time! Previously during the Collegiate season she also competed at the Cornell Challenge Cup in New York, and The Violet Ice Classic in New York.
- Congratulations to  our club skater Talia Gallagher who is a member of the UCONN Collegiate team and recently won individually a pewter medal in the pattern dance and a bronze medal with the team at The Violet Ice Classic in New York City!

​September-December 2019
​- Congratulations to Anqi Hou, Lauren Jeong and Katie Turcotte who represented Finer Edge at the 2020 Eastern Sectionals, 11/2-11/16 in Hyannis, MA! In a highly competitive field with the best figure skaters from all Eastern regions, they finished in 12-th, 11-th and 15-th place in the Juvenile, Intermediate and Novice events, respectively. - Katie Turcotte qualified for the 2020 Sectional Championships through the NQS system! Congratulations and good luck!
- Congratulations to Ava Lam and Annie Zhao, who won silver medals at the Cape Cod Harvest Classic competition - Excel Beginner and Basic 6 levels.
- During the last day of the 2020 New England Regional Single Challenge competition Katie Turcotte finished in 8-th place in the Novice Championships. Good job! The followed skaters received Special Achievement Awards at Regionals: Anqi Hou - 4 pins, Lauren Jeong - 3 pins, Katie Turcotte - 1 pin, Mia Vientos - 1 pin! Congratulations, girls!
- Great new from the third day at Regionals:  Anqi Hou is the 2020 New England Regional Singles Challenge  Juvenile vice-champion and silver medalist. She qualified for Sectionals! Lauren Jeong won the intermediate free skating and finished in fifth place overall. She qualified for the 2020 Sectional Championships. Mia Vientos finished in 5-th place and Mariapia is 23-rd. Congratulations to all our skaters! 
- During the second day at Sectionals our Juvenile skater Anqi Hou won a silver medal in QR, Group A and qualified for the Championships round!  Katie Turcotte finished in 3-rd place at the Novice QR, Group A and qualified for the Championships. Carol Sugrue finished in 10-th place with a personal best score. Lauren, Mia and Mariapia skated their short programs at the Intermediate Championships. 
- Great news from the first day of the 2020 New England Regional competition! Lauren Jeong, Mia Vientos and Mariapia Asca qualified for the final round! Good luck!  Emma, Jenny and Mason skated their best and placed right below those who qualified.
September 2019
- Great job done by Julia Ciesla,  Kiana Angelier, and Victoria Ciesla at Boston Open !  All three of them won medals and Julia's gold medal is historical, as it was the very last gold medal awarded at the  Skating Club of Boston rink. The club will move to its new location after 107 years of  glorious history.
​- The 2019 Little New England Championships/Providence Open was a huge success for our skaters!  All of them skated at their best! Special kudos to  the Little New England champions  Julia and Victoria Ciesla,  to the Novice Ladies champion Katie Turcotte, as well as to the other medal winners - Lauren Jeong, Anqi Hou, Kiana Angelier !

August 2019
- Congratulations to Katie, Lauren, Mia, Victoria and Julia who skated great at Moran Memorial in New Jersey !  Special kudos to the medal winners Victoria Ciesla, Julia Ciesla and Lauren Jeong!
- Great job for our club skaters at Cranberry Open in Cape Cod! Special kudos to the girls who qualified for the Championship rounds - Lauren Jeong, Anqi Hou and Katie Turcotte! Congratulations to all medal winners: Julia Ciesla, Yana Telnov, Anqi Hou, Lauren Jeong, Mia Vientos, Victoria Ciesla, Carol Sugrue and Katie Turcotte! 
- Congratulations, Mason Borden and Emma Blanchette for your great results at the 2019 State Games of America! Mason is a gold medalist at the Open Juvenile Compulsory Moves event. Emma is the silver medalist in the Intermediate Short program!
- Great job, Mariapia Asca and Clare Link at Ocean State Open! Mariapia won a bronze medal at the Intermediate free skating with a new personal best. Clare also won a bronze medal - Pre-Preliminary Excel.
​- Great news: Bianca Hammer has been named the recipient of the 2019 Aldo Constantino Annual Academic Scholarship  awarded by the New England Inter-Club Council! Congratulations Bianca, coach Sarah and thank you, NEICC!

June - July 2019
- The test session on July 21-st in Newington, CT was a huge success for all ! Congratulations!

- Congratulations to Lauren Jeong, Mia Vientos, Anqi Hou, and Katie Turcotte who had a very good start of the season at the Southern CT Open on April 12 and 13!
​- Congratulations to Tanya Bilous,  Veronika Kurganski , and Chelsea Qian who skated great at their first ever competition - the 20-th  Champions Annual Compete USA Competition in Cromwell, CT!  Results are here.
- Finer Edge FSC  had a test session  on Sunday, March 24th from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Veterans Memorial Ice RInk located at 56 Buena Vista Road, West Hartford, CT.  The test session went successfully. - Congratulations to Mariapia Asca (Intermediate) and Mia Vientos (Juvenile) - the recipients of the 2019 -2020 training NEICC scholarships. 
- Congratulations to Ann  Song who placed in first place and won a gold medal at the Workman Open competition, at the Excel Pre-juvenile Plus level, Free Skating!

- Congratulations to Teodora Markova and Simon Daze for participating for the second consecutive year at the European Figure Skating Championships representing Bulgaria, for improving their result and finishing in 23-rd place. You can watch their rhythm dance at Europeans here.

​October - December 2018
- Congratulations to Anastasia Vaipan-Law - this year's British National Junior silver medalist! 
- Teodora Markova and Simon Daze, Bulgaria, finished at 8-th place at the Senior Ice Dances event of the Warsaw Cup competition in Poland! 
- Congratulations to Tedora Markova and Simon Daze who were selected to represent Bulgaria at the 2019 European Figure Skating Championships in Minsk, Belarus, in January, after finishing  in 13-th place at the Inge Solar Memorial - Alpen Trophy Ice Challenger Series, Senior Ice Dance, in Innsbruck, Austria.
- Kudos to Anastasia Vaipan-Law, who represented Great Britain at the 2018 Inge Solar memorial - Alpen Trophy  competition in Innsbruck, Austria and finished in 4-th place overall in the Junior event! Great job, Ana!
- Finer Edge FSC wishes Lauren Jeong good luck at the Eastern Sectionals Figure Skating Championships in North Carolina next week!
- Congratulations to club member Anastasia Vaipan-Law who represented Great Britain and finished in 11-th place  (out of 39) at the 30-th edition of the Golden Bear competition in Zagreb, Croatia. 
- The 2019 New England Regional Championships was a very successful one. We had 9 competitors: Anqi Hou, Bianca Hammer, Carol Sugrue, Emma Blanchette, Emma Fossum, Lauren Jeong, Mariapia Asca, Mia Vientos, Katie Turcotte. Si x of them qualified for the final rounds - Katie, Carol, Lauren, Mia, Emma Fossum and Anqi. At the preliminary rounds our skaters won 1 gold medal (Lauren), 1 bronze (Emma Fossum) and 2 pewter ( Katie and Mia).  Lauren,  Mia, Katie, Mariapia and Emma Fossum won 7 USFS gold special achievements pins. At the Championships round for Juvenile Lauren Jeong won pewter medal and qualified for Eastern Sectionals. Great job, girls!
- Anastasia Vaipan-Law represented Great Britain at the Junior Grand Prix event in Ljubljana, Slovenia, October 4-8, and finished in 14-th place out of 36 competitors. Congratulations!

August - September 2018
- Congratulations to all our skaters who participated at the 2018 Boston Open ! Special kudos to the gold medalists Lauren Jeong, Victoria Ciesla and  Julia Ciesla, as well as to the other medal winners Jennifer Sugrue, Kiana Angelier,  and Evgenia Milios !
- Club member Teodora Markova and her partner Simon Daze represented Bulgaria at the ISU Challenger Series competitions U.S. International FIgure Skating Classic in Salt Lake City, Utah and Autumn Classic in Canada.  They finished in 7-th place at both competitions.
- Great job for all of our participants at Providence Open and Little New England Championships this past weekend in Providence, RI ! Special kudos to those who won medals: Katie Turcotte - two bronze medals at Intermediate level, Victoria Ciesla - gold at the preliminary round and pewter at the final round in Pre-Preliminary, Julia Ciesla - gold in the qualifying and bronze in the final at High Beginner level, Kiana Angelier - bronze at the qualifying round in High Beginner.
​- Congratulations to our club member Anastasia Vaipan-Law who finished in 17-th place in a tough field of 34 Junior ladies from 29 countries. She represented Great Britain at the second Junior Grand Prix event of the season - the Cup of Austria in Linz. Click at this link to Ana's beautiful short program.
​- Congratulations to all our skaters who competed at Moran Memorial in Hackensack, New Jersey this weekend! Special kudos to the Juvenile Girls Final round Champion and winner of the Helen Oak Award Lauren Jeong! Congratulations also to Katie Turcotte and Emma Fossum who medaled at the qualifying rounds and skated at the final rounds of the Intermediate and Juvenile events! We are proud of all of you!

- Congratulations to our club member Teodora Markova and her ice dance partner Simon Daze for their successful debut at the ISU World Championships in Milan, Italy. We are proud of your achievement! January-February 2018
- During the 2018 Mentor  Torun Cup in Poland, Teodora Markova and Simon Daze qualified for the  2018 World  Figure Skating Championships  in March in Milan, Italy. Kudos on this great achievement! You can read more here.  
​- Our club member Teodora Markova and her partner Simon Daze finished in 26-th position at the 2018 European Figure Skating Championships in Moscow, Russia from January 15 to January 21. - FEFSC would like to congratulate club members Elizabeth Song and Mariapia Asca as the recipients of Training Scholarships from the New England Interclub Council (NEICC). Elisabeth was a very successful intermediate level skater last season and Mariapia will compete at the Intermediate level during the 2018-2019 season. Join us in wishing them all the best for this coming season! In addition, the club would like to thank NEICC for providing Training Scholarships to New England are skaters at the Intermediate level and below.

​October-December 2017
-  Congratulations to Anastasia Vaipan-Law who skated beautifully and finished in second place overall at the 2018 British National Championships, Junior Ladies!  We are proud of you, Ana ! 
- Congratulations to Teodora Markova and Simon Daze who won their first medal at an International competition. They skated beautifully both the short dance and the long program and finished in third place at the Bosphorus Cup in Istanbul , Turkey, December 13-16.
- Congratulations to our club member Teodora Markova who recently switched to ice dances. At their first international assignment , Tedy and her partner Simon Daze represented Bulgaria and finished in 8-th place at the Open d'Andorra  with great technical scores  in both, the short and the free dances. Congratulations! - Anastasia Vaipan-Law, representing  Great Britain, finished in 4-th place  at the 34-th Volvo Open Cup in Riga, Latvia, Junior Ladies event, while competing with 28 more skaters from 13 countries, including a top Russian skater. Congratulations, Ana, on a really great achievement ! 
- Congratulations to our little skaters Jennifer Sugrue, Evgenia Milios and Eliana Tonyan who participated at the 2018 New England Non-Qualifying competition and all won medals!
- The 2018 New England Regional Championships finished successfully for our skaters. Here are the details:
Day 1: Elizabeth Song won her Intermediate qualifying group and is going to the Championships round. Bianca Hammer also qualified for the Intermediate Ladies Championships after winning pewter medal in her group. Lauren Jeong won silver medal in Juvenile girls qualifying group and is going to the finals! Carol Sugrue (Intermediate) and Mariapia Asca (Juvenile) finished in 8-th place in their groups.
Day 2: Nichole Alejandro finished in 5-th place Novice Group A and missed the Championships round by 0.07 points. Lauren Jeong finished her first Regional Championships in 14-th place (out of 88 girls). Elizabeth Song is in third position and Binaca Hammer - in 19-th after the short program in the Intermediate Ladies Championships.
Last Day:  Elizabeth Song finished in 5-th position in the Intermediate Ladies Championships and will be the first alternate for Eastern Sectionals, Bianca Hammer improved a lot her position from the short program and finished in 13-th position overall in the same event.

September 2017
- Congratulations to Ashley Zawada who skated great at the 2017 Cape Cod Harvest Classic competition and won silver medal!
- The Club's 2018 Regionals Send-off party was held on Saturday, October 14-th at Bowl-O-rama in Newington. We wished best of luck to our girls who will be competing  next week!  
- Congratulations to our skaters who did a great job at the 2017 Autumn Harvest Open  competition - they all medalled. Kudos to Maggie Mieczkowski, Maye Lemire, Sarah Granquist, and Jarah Teitler !  
- Anastasia Vaipan-Law had a beautiful appearance at the Junior Grand Prix Series in Zagreb, Croatia!  She finished in 15-th place (out of 35)  at her first JGP assignment.  Congratulations, Ana!

- Our club held a test session on July 23, 2017 at the Newington Arena. The session was well organised and very successful. Congratulations to all who passed! The 2017 Colonial Open competition was very successful for our skaters! They skated great and achieved impressive results!  Elizabeth Song, Lauren Jeong, Maggie Mieczkowski, Isabel Carney, Jennifer Sugrue, Katie Turcotte, Mariapia Asca, Sasha Schake, Bianca Hammer won medals in their events. -Our skaters did a nice job at the 2017 Champions 18-th Annual Compete USA Competition in Cromwell, CT on April 30-th.  Congratulations to Maggie Mieczkowski for winning a gold medal there at the Preliminary event!
- As usual, the new season started for our skaters the weekend of April 20-22 at Southern Connecticut Open in Darien, CT. We are proud to announce that our skaters did a great job there! Lauren Toia and Yana Telnov won their events, Katie Turcotte and Mariapia Asca came in second, Mia Vientos won bronze, Ann Song - pewter medal. January-March 2017

November-December 2016
- At the 2017 Eastern Sectional Figure Skating Championships, November 16-20 in Indian Trail, NC our skaters Liz Song - Juvenile Girls, and Liza Rubinsky - Juvenile Ice Dance did a great job! Liza Rubinsky and her partner Benjamin Starr finished in fourth place and qualified for U.S. Nationals in Kanzas City in January 2017. Liz Song finished in sixth place, only 0.49 points behind the fourth  place qualifier for Nationals. Congratulations to the skaters, their coaches and their families for a job well done!

October 2016
-  The 2017 New England Regional Championships was a great success for our skaters. They all gave their best and our club has its first ever Regional Champion - Elizabeth Song! Congratulations, girls for your hard work! Full results are published under the "Qualifying" tab.

- On August 13-th, 2016 Finer Edge Figure Skating Club sponsored the 7-th Annual Tribute To Life Skating Exhibition. This year the show was in support of the cancer care programs at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT.  Thank you to Petra Mursch for putting all her heart into the show organization every year! - Finer Edge skaters won 5 gold medals at the 2016 Cranberry Open competition. Elizabeth Song won the final Championships round of the Juvenile event with a 'top 5 in the US' score. Both Elizabeth Song and Katie Turcotte won their Juvenile qualifying groups. Lauren Toia, our beautiful and brave little champion, was the best at the preliminary level. ​- Finer Edge  hosted a test session on July 24-th, from 1:40 to 3:40 at the Newington Arena. The session was very successful - congratulations to all who passed their tests!
